Phenomena, a short experimental art film
for Valentines Mansion and gardens

The project is a collaboration between a Japanese Visual & Live artist Juri Nishi and a Portuguese Film maker Tânia Moreira David.

Concept
Using the expression of dance and movement, the project explores ideas about phenomenology and the relationship of the body to the architectural landscape. The project is inspired by the history of generations of past inhabitants. The film will be set in a listed 17th century mansion and a 18th century Rococo garden.

Phenomena will be on solo exhibition at the Valentines Mansion from end of May-Aug 2012. The exhibition will consist of the film and a series of drawings based on choreographic movements of the project.

Juri and Tânia both have a background in Architecture and encountered each other whilst working at SCDLP Architects in London. Their collaboration began in Tânia’s previous film La Petite Maison, an architectural seduction which has been exhibited in established organisations such as MAXXI Museum in Rome, Foundazione Architetti Treviso and Strelka Institute for Media.

Upcoming events
We will be holding a series of free film screening events and movement workshop to engage the community in to our process. To receive updates of these future events and exhibition dates, please subscribe to our Artist page on Facebook, here.
